£7.00
Maison Joseph Drouhin are a fourth-generation wine producer with 140 years experience. They are passionate about the environment, championing organic & biodynamic production. They began to produce Chablis in the 1960’s, during a time when most vineyards were abandoned. Robert Drouhin recognised the potential of the region and became one of the re-inventors of Chablis as a premium wine-production region. This particular example is classic of young & fresh Chablis. Chardonnay grapes thrive in the cool climate and adopt the nuances of the land. It is herbaceous on the nose, with hints of lemon and grapefruit. There is also a hint of salinity, which is typical of Chablis, especially when young. It is elegant with very pure flavours of fruit and with a dry and long finish.

Seresin Estate Chardonnay 2018, Marlborough, New Zealand

£6.30
Seresin have been producing wine since 1990, with organic & biodynamic production at the very heart of what they do. They take their time during wine making to allow natural processes to occur. This extra time working with nature and natural process leads to wonderful complexity of texture and flavour in their finished product. Once the wine initial wine-making process is complete all of their wines spend a little time ageing in either a barrel or in bottle to further release flavour and complexity. As the winemakers say “Good things come to those who wait”. On the nose, think toasted almond, citrus and apple. The flavours are focused and bright - hints of grapefruit, peach and nectarine. This is a very fragrant wine with a wonderful long finish.

The Roost Biodynamic Chardonnay, Bonterra, California, USA

£11.90
Bonterra vineyards began farming organically in 1987, long before this became popular practice in the USA. They believe that through true respect for the land around them, the truest expression of grapes can be developed. This Chardonnay comes from a single vineyard block adjacent to a blue heron nesting site and nature reserve. Unusually for a Californian Chardonnay, this example has lovely Burgundian-style with hints of lemon & baked apple with wonderful balance on the palate. The wine was fermented in oak barrels for 18 months, leading to light oak characteristics.
